Two dynamic entrepreneurial forces are poised to give the community of Oxford the biggest bounce it’s ever had in terms of family-friendly attractions.

The grand opening for Michigan’s first Urban Air Trampoline Park will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. in the 208,000-square-foot Legacy Center: Community in Motion, a recreation center and community hub located at 925 N. Lapeer Rd. The first 100 people in line will receive an Ultimate Fan Card good for a one-hour free Jump every week for a year.

“It’s beautiful!” exclaimed Michael Browning, founder and CEO of the Texas-based Urban Air, during a recent visit to the new 30,000-square-foot indoor trampoline park. “They’ve done a phenomenal job. This is a first-class facility.”

“We did our homework when it came to all the various franchises we could house under the Legacy Center’s roof and Urban Air is a perfect fit for us,” said Christian Mills, the Lake Orion entrepreneur whose vision and passion are bringing the Legacy Center to life.

Oxford’s Urban Air Trampoline Park will feature dodgeball courts, a foam pit, soft play area, special trampoline zone for kids age 7 and under, a tumble track, wall-to-wall trampoline arenas, Warrior Obstacle Course, a Warrior Battle Beam, Slam Dunk Zone and a unique rock climbing wall where nothing but a clear piece of plexiglass separates competitors as they race face-to-face to the top.

The whole idea behind Urban Air is exercise in disguise, according to Browning.

Instead of sitting at home and playing video games, kids get a high-energy workout and enhance their socialization skills while playing together in a place where they can literally bounce off the walls.

“It’s safe, it’s fun, it’s affordable. It’s perfect for any age,” said Browning, who noted there are currently 32 Urban Air locations either open or under construction in 12 states.

“It’s going to drive a lot of traffic to the Legacy Center and the kids are going to absolutely love it,” Mills said. “It’s hard not to smile and have fun jumping on a trampoline.”

Oxford’s Urban Air will include eight rooms for private parties, a cafe, plenty of picnic tables and a comfortable, raised viewing area from which parents can relax and watch all the action.

The services of an on-site photographer/videographer will be available for private parties to capture all those memorable, action-packed moments.

In addition to kids’ parties, Urban Air is the perfect place to host team parties, fund-raisers, corporate events, family gatherings and church functions.

Urban Air is one of many businesses at the Legacy Center, all of which are focused on family entertainment, fitness, health, training for individual and team sports, art, education, life-skill development and dining.

“This is like a shopping mall for recreation, health and wellness,” explained Alaina Campbell, Legacy’s director of business development. “There’s nothing else like this.”

Browning believes there are “definite benefits” to having an Urban Air park located in such a unique facility.

“Being around other businesses that cater to families, it really helps all businesses. A rising tide lifts all ships,” he said. “Christian’s brought so many synergistic businesses together that we feel blessed to be a part of it.”

By having Oxford’s Urban Air located inside the Legacy Center, as opposed to being a stand-alone facility or part of a strip mall, Campbell explained parents will be more inclined to stay and pursue their own interests while their children play.

“Here, the kids can go have a blast on the trampolines while mom goes to her yoga class and dad does his CrossFit training,” she said. “Then, they can all meet up for sandwiches at the cafe or some frozen yogurt.”
