Mom’s Football Clinic open to public

Ladies, put on your (game) faces and leave the high heels at home. The gridiron is calling your name; its sweet siren is softly saying, ‘Mom, come to me. Come see what I am doing with your sons.?
The Oxford Football Club is hosting its ‘first annual? Mom’s Football Clinic this coming Tuesday (August 6) at the practice field behind the high school auditorium.
The gridiron siren’s polar opposite, the ever bombastically barking Bud Rowley, promises an entirely fun, entertaining and educational evening.
‘All the coaches from varsity, junior varsity and freshman football will be out there in pink shirts. We’re gonna? have fun. We’ll show moms how to stretch out, put them through some drills and formations.
‘Everyone is welcome. They don’t have to have their sons on the team. Any mom who has been a part of the Oxford Wildcat football tradition can join the clinic,? Rowley growled. ‘Spectators are welcome, too.?
Rowley, the longtime coach for Oxford High school’s varsity football program, recommends women participating should wear appropriate workout clothing and shoes.
This is the first fund-raiser for the recently formed Oxford Football Club. The $25 registration fee not only gets you on the field for the Mom’s Clinic, it also includes a T-shirt, pizza and pop at camp’s end, plus a one-year membership to the football club.
‘This is something I think the community will really like,? Rowley said. ‘It’s just plain, good fun.?
According to Coach (also know for his yellow, game-day pants), money raised helps the Oxford football program for 7th thru 12th graders. Money raised helps purchase equipment, uniforms and helps cover cost for team events and dinners.
There are four levels of membership to the Oxford Football Club. Bronze ($25), Silver ($50), Gold ($100) and Captain ($150) club members.
Bronze member benefits are a T-shirt and car window sticker; Silver gets you a T-shirt, hat, car window sticker and special seating during home games; Gold membership gets you a golf shirt, hat, car window sticker, plus special home game seating. The Captain clubbers, get the golf shirt, hat, car window sticker, special seating for home games, plus two regular season tickets per home game and pizza night with the players after one game.
