Oxford baseball team sweeps senior day game

Oxford swept a double-header game against Avondale held on the home field senior day.

 In Game 1, Oxford won a pitchers dual in game 1 with a score of 2-1. Senior Shae Walters pitched six solid innings allowing four hits, one run while striking out two.

Walters picked up the win. Senior Michael Scepka tabbed the save throwing the 7th inning.

Seniors Gage Warzecha, Zak Schwerin, Michael Scepka, Ben Nuss, Connor Romine, and Cameron Marshall all had 1 hit to lead the offense. Oxford played a clean game defensively not allowing an error.

In Game 2 Oxford’s bats came alive in game 2 posting 12 hits and winning 9-1.

Three players lead the way with multiple RBI’s, senior Shae Walters two RBI’s, senior Gage Warzecha two RBI’s, and junior Evan Brunning three RBI’s. Senior Ben Nuss and Brunning each collected three hits in the game while Warzecha added two.

Senior Connor Romine was credited with the victory going five innings allowing two hits and one run while striking out seven. Warzecha and Tyler Szczepanski each came out of the bullpen for one inning of work.
