Pogue set to run for Wolverines

State champion cross country runner Taylor Pogue has set her sights on the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. The Goodrich high school senior signed with the Wolverines last Monday in the GHS counseling office.
Pogue, who has an impeccable personal record of 18:06 in the 5K and ran the Michigan International Speedway state finals course in 18:11 to capture the division two girls championship, is excited for the transition. She will be receiving half tuition next fall.
‘I just felt really comfortable there; the girls and coach are great and I love the city,? said Pogue.
Pogue’s family and friends were there to support her as she signed her letter of intent. ‘U of M’s getting a great deal,? said Goodrich High School Track and Cross Country Coach Al Warden. ‘She’s a great runner, but a better person. I’m very happy for Taylor. She had a lot of patience and persistence to hold out for the school she really wanted to go to.?
Pogue, who has been running cross country and track for five years now, is going to miss the Martians team, but is ready for the next step.
‘I’ve had a lot of fun running in my high school career, but I’m excited for the next step,? said Pogue.
