With the winter snow comes tougher driving conditions. Last weekend, the Village of Oxford had a flurry of car accidents. All of these incidents took place on Saturday, Jan. 19. Though some vehicles sustained damage, nobody was hurt.

Side swipe

A 38-year-old Fenton woman was in the Village of Oxford driving her Pontiac Grand Prix when she came across a man legally parked on the side of the road. Upon coming up to a stop sign, she lost control and slid off the road, clipping the man’s vehicle. Damage to both vehicles was minor.

Spinning out downtown

While driving through downtown Oxford, a 41-year-old woman lost control of her Dodge Journey and stuck another driver, a 51-year-old Caro man. When his vehicle was hit, he then spun out due to snow and ice and hit a light pole just in front of the Oxford 7 movie theater.

Braking too quickly

A 32-year-old Lapeer woman found herself hitting a light pole whole driving her Dodge Journey in downtown Oxford on Saturday. The car driving in front of her braked quickly, causing her to spin out and hit the pole. The other driver was not identified, as he or she drove off after the incident.

Slippery roads lead to several spin outs

While driving through the Village of Oxford, a 21-year-old Lapeer woman watched the car in front of her spin out and swerved in front of a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 25-year-old Lake Orion man. As she moved in front of him, she spun out. The man could not move in enough time and struck her vehicle. But, nobody was hurt.
