Rochester Rd. resurfacing to begin July 18

July 18 is the date set by the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) to begin work on the resurfacing of Rochester Rd. between Gerst and Bordman roads in Addison Township.

The road will be closed to through-traffic, however, business and residential access will be maintained throughout the project. The detour for the closure is Elmwood Road to Leonard Road to Secord Lake Road to Bordman Road back to Rochester Road and vice versa.

The approximately $2.45 million project is mostly funded with federal dollars. The remaining amount will be covered by the RCOC.

The project includes crushing and reshaping the existing road base; resurfacing the road with 6 inches of asphalt; replacement of several culverts; and improving drainage.

Rochester Rd. carries approximately 3,500 vehicles daily. Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township is the contractor for the project. Work is expected to conclude in early November.
