Oakland County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputies rushed to the Lake Villa community around midnight on Jan. 8 responding to calls of gunshots being fired.
Two calls from Lake Villa sent four deputies to the community on the knowledge that a 21-year old Oxford resident fired a gun about 10 to 14 times in the residential area. Deputies located a suspect matching a caller’s description moments after arriving, calling him down from the doorway of his home and securing him in a patrol car.
Speaking with a witness after the arrest, deputies learned that the suspect was seen shooting a gun in a “sporadic” manner, seemingly going through two magazines of ammunition. Several handgun bulltet casings and unspent rounds were found around the porch where the suspect was located. Two handguns, a rifle lacking a stock and nearly 40 rounds of spent and unspent ammunition were taken from the scene. Deputies were unable to find bullet holes in nearby homes.
The suspect was released at the scene, issued a ticket for the reckless discharge of a firearm and told to appear in court by Jan. 22 for further instruction.
