Snow Day

This weekend’s snowfall not only brought about seven inches of snow, but also a day off of school for children in 150 districts in Michigan, including Oxford.
Beginning late Saturday night, four employees of the Oxford Village Department of Public Works used nearly 40 tons of salt on and plowed the main streets, like Burdick, Lakeville, Pontiac and Glaspie.
According to Don Brantley, Supervisor of the DPW, the residential streets didn’t get salted or plowed until early Monday morning.
‘The days are just running together,? a tired Brantley said.
Thankfully, there were no accidents reported in the township or village due to the heavy snowfall, although there was the occasional vehicle stuck in deep snow along some streets.

For the second Friday in a row, Oxford students experienced the joy of one of winter’s greatest gifts ? Snow Day!
Old Man Winter dumped approximately 6 inches of the white stuff on the Oxford area Thursday, Dec. 15, forcing Oxford Schools to close their doors on Friday for the second time within a week.
Here we see some local kids enjoying their day of freedom and the sled hill at Seymour Lake Twp. Park.
