Participating in a quad at Notre Dame Preparatory in Pontiac on Aug. 27, the Oxford Wildcats volleyball team recorded a trio of impressive wins over Lake Orion, Clarkston and Notre Dame Prep.

Facing the Fighting Irish in their first match of the day, the Wildcats beat them in two sets, 25-21, 29-27.

Taking on the Clarkston Wolves in their middle match, Oxford again got the job done in quick fashion, 25-20, 25-23.

That win began to turn heads considering Clarkston posted a 35-13-2 (5-2 in the Oakland Activities Association) record a year ago. However, the Wildcats still had more work ahead.

In their third and final match of the day, it was the Wildcats’ turn to face the Lake Orion Dragons, the reigning Division I state champions.

The first set was extremely close with Oxford prevailing, 25-23. The Wildcats stepped on the gas in the second set, however, and expanded the gap, 25-19, to complete the sweep.

Libero Madelyn Weiss and right outside hitter Peyton Krajcarski, both of whom are seniors, have done an excellent job demonstrating leadership on the floor.

With these wins, the Wildcats’ record now stands at 5-1-2 this season. The team has won 13 of their 17 sets.

Looking to keep this stretch of good play going, next up is another quad. This one at Flushing High School on Tuesday, Sept. 3 against Clarkston, Flushing and North Branch.
