Students studying Japanese place first

Clarkston High School Japanese students placed first at the Japan Bowl on March 5 at The University of Michigan.
The Japan Bowl is a competition that brings together students of Japanese programs from across the state. The bowl is based on cultural knowledge as well as language skills.
‘The mission is to challenge our students in their studies and speedily answer the questions,? said Barbara Rice, Japanese instructor.
Clarkston High School took first place in level one and level two, and third place in level three.
‘I am very proud that the students who competed did so well,? said Rice. ‘Their enthusiasm and dedication helps me evaluate my career as a teacher.?
‘They make Clarkston’s Japanese Program excel and make their parents and the community look great,? Rice added.
According to Rice, Clarkston High School students demonstrate passion for the culture, forcing the program to evolve.
‘The Japanese Program continues to grow so I am challenged to keep up with the student’s interests in the Japanese language,? said Rice. ‘Internet, manga, anime and games are peeking the students? interests and this keeps me on my toes.?
The Clarkston High School Japanese Program encourages students to use their skills of the language. The students often plan trips to Japan, as well as welcome Japanese students to experience the American culture.
Congratulations to the Clarkston High School Japanese Program.
