Extending their win streak to four games, which matches their season-long, the Oxford Wildcats girls’ soccer program picked up two more Oakland Activities Association (OAA) White Division victories, topping the Birmingham Seaholm Maples, 3-0, on May 4 and the Farmington Falcons, 8-0, on May 6.
With these two triumphs, both of which came at Wildcat Stadium, head coach John Thaler’s team now stands at 8-2 (4-1 OAA White).
Senior Mackenzie “Mackie” Methner scored two of Oxford’s goals in the Seaholm tilt, with freshman Ella Boyd adding the other. Junior Brianna Barrows recorded the shutout, her second of the season and the team’s fifth.
Against Farmington, four different Wildcats found the back of the net, led by three from Ella Boyd, with junior Carly Boyd and Methner both chipping in two and sophomore Alexandria Dawood registering the other.
Goalkeeper Jenna Hickey, a junior, earned the shutout, which, like Barrows, was her second of the campaign.
Having outscored the opposition, 48-9, this season, including 24-1 during their current win streak, Oxford appears to have established themselves as one of the top-two teams in the OAA White, along with the Lake Orion Dragons, the only team to defeat them in league play.
Methner has scored a team-high 17 goals, with Ella Boyd not far behind at 15 and Carly Boyd at 10.
Completing a five-game homestand, the Wildcats battled the Waterford Mott Corsairs, a member of the Lakes Valley Conference, on Tuesday and will welcome in the Armada Tigers, who belong to the Blue Water Area Conference, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
