Solid effort, but bowlers lose out in Davison

The Davison Doubles tournament wasn’t as kind to the varsity bowlers has it has been in years past.
Held in Flint, the Wildcats were only able to get one team of mixed doubles competition out of the qualifying round, and they were quickly bounced in the first round.
Junior Heather Lafnear and senior Kevin Rein led the Wildcats with a 1415.
Lafnear was the high roller of the tournament for the girls, bowling a 621 series.
She was also named to the all-tournament team.
Lafnear and Rein went up against a team from Flint Kearsley and bowled games of 167 and 217, but lost the match in the last frame of the second baker game.
Senior Brandon Barber and sophomore Caitlyn Wroblewski just missed making it into the tournament by seven pins, bowling a 1348.
Other bowlers who put forth solid efforts for the Wildcats include freshman Brandon Hulbert and senior Alyssa Hurtado, who bowled a 1285, and juniors Alex and William Logan, who bowled a 1208.
‘It was a great experience for us,? bowling coach JR Lafnear said. ‘We learned a lot and we made some great strides by the end of the day.?
The Wildcats roll against Troy Athens on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
