A 19-year-old Metamora woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on E. Oakwood Rd., near Gardner Rd., in Oxford Township at 10:08 p.m. on Aug. 21.

Keara Belle Obrzut was driving a 2018 BMW X4 and headed east on E. Oakwood Rd. when she lost control of her vehicle, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Obrzut’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree, which caused the BMW to overturn and come to rest on its side.

The Oxford Fire Department had to extricate Obrzut from the vehicle. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, she was wearing her seat belt and the vehicle’s airbags did deploy.

It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
