Village hires part-time deputy clerk/treasurer

Ortonville – On Monday, March 8, the village council motioned to hire long time Brandon resident Deea Emmons to the part-time position of Deputy Clerk/Treasurer.
Village President Sue Bess concluded that with the changes in staffing of the last six months, including the promotion of Shane Eliassen and hiring DPW worker Kevin Boom, the addition of Emmons to the office staff have created a good team watching over the village.
‘There is an excellent working relationship over there,? said Bess.
‘Everybody is all willing to learn.?
Emmons says she feels good about the appointment because working in the familiar setting on a part- time basis is something she has wanted ‘forever.?
‘I think the staff here is a good mix,? said Emmons.
Emmons, has filled in positions for both the village and township municipalities, stating that working for the village on a permanent basis will be a nice change.
Drawing from over 10 years of extensive travel facilitation, and instruction experience, Emmons has blended proficiency with flexibility to step into various positions within the village and township, filling in as a temporary employee as needed.
In addition, Emmons has also served as recording secretary to the Township Board, the Fire Board, and the Village. She is also currently a member of the Planning Commission.
As a busy wife to Kevin, and mother to daughter Sidney,7, the 38-year-old Brandon Township resident is attending Oakland Community College, studying applied Science and Paralegal. She states she is happy to accept the position of part-time Deputy Clerk/Treasurer.
Village Clerk/Treasurer Mary Clark, who has worked with Emmons while she filled in for former Deputy Clerk Joni Hennard, says she and Emmons have been doing fine working together the past three weeks.
Emmons? new boss, Village Manager Paul Zelenak says she is a great addition with a good handle on knowledge that will be beneficial to the village.
