The world lost a beautiful light on Sept. 13, 2024, when Eileen Mae, of Oxford, made her transition. Eileen was born in Detroit on Nov. 10, 1931, to the late Leslie and Mildred Eppinger. Eileen found purpose and fulfillment in her involvement with the numerous charities and rescues she was involved with including, F.I.S.H providing local families with food, Moody Gardens in Texas as a horse therapy escort, Northeast Oakland Historical Museum as a docent, K-9 Stray Oxford Rescue League as a dog walker; and many more. Eileen was always generous with what she could give, whether it be time, money or love. Eileen’s life was an intricate tapestry woven with threads of adventure, friendship, guidance and light. She traveled the world over and always made friends along the way. Her warm smile, bright light, and kind heart were incredibly inviting. She enjoyed square and line dancing and tai chi until this last year. Eileen had a special place in her heart for all animals. She always kept pets in the home and enjoyed feeding the birds that frequently visited her yard. Above all, she deeply loved her family and always made herself available to them. Overall, Eileen was a wonderful woman whose legacy will live on in those she cherished the most. Eileen is survived by her adoring children, daughter Robin DiMeglio; Randall (Kelly) Fluker; loving grandchildren Andrew (Cassie) DiMeglio, Melissa DiMeglio, Lindsay (Andrew) Gonzales; Amber (Evan McMullen) DiMeglio, Allison Fluker, Amanda Fluker; great-grandchildren Jae’la (Joey) Sattler, Ben Gonzales, Constance Fluker, Sam Gonzales, Lilia Fluker; treasured sister Kathleen Silverthorn; family friend Dan DiMeglio; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the many friends she has made along the way. In keeping with Eileen’s wishes, arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors – Bossardet Chapel in Oxford. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Mich. Pastor Dave Gerber will officiate. Eileen will be inurned at Protestant Cemetery on Mackinac Island at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to K-9 Stray Oxford Rescue League, a charity near and dear to Eileen’s heart.
