The Oxford Fire Department firefighters and EMTs hosted their annual open house on Saturday at Station 1, 96 N. Washington St. The open house gives kids and their families a chance to meet the firefighters, learn more about what firefighters do, the equipment they use and see demonstrations on some basic life-saving techniques, like CPR, and getting their blood pressure taken.
Of course, the firefighters and EMTs also had fun activities planned, including face painting, letting kids climb through the fire trucks and Medstar helicopter, spraying fire hoses and fire extinguishers, crawling through tubes, crafts, dressing up in fire gear and enjoy hot dogs grilled by a firefighter. – J.N.
