Leslie Ernest Waggett was born Dec. 31, 1940 in Chasetown, Staffordshire, England during a bombing attack. He was the eldest son of Leslie Gray Waggett and Nellie Kate Murcott. He passed away on Oct. 27, 2024 after suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Leslie’s family immigrated to Pontiac, Michigan in 1955. He worked for his dad in his painting business. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam in the 84th Engineer Battalion. He and his former wife, Jane Lyons Waggett, had one child, Jennifer Waggett Alter Bolliter. Les worked for GM as a painter in Pontiac for 38 years. He was active in American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 334 and served as Sergeant at Arms for both. In 1999 he remarried Dawn Freeman Baldwin and became the stepfather of William and Catherine Baldwin. He has three grandchildren, Dominic Alter and Dorothy and Margie Baldwin. Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick in Oxford, on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. with a Poppy Service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Oxford American Legion Walter Fraser Post 108. Flowers may be sent to Lynch & Sons.
