Team wins Autonomous Award for outstanding programming

FLINT — Oxford High School’s FIRST robotics competition team, Team 2137 The Oxford RoboCats, competed Friday and Saturday at the FIRST in Michigan District Kettering University Event #1, winning the event and receiving the Autonomous Award for their outstanding programming.

Out of 40 teams that competed at Kettering University, Team 2137 placed third in qualifying matches and during alliance selection, were chosen by the captain of the #1 alliance, Team 5460, Strike Zone, from Lapeer.
Both teams then chose Team 4998, TESLA, from Lapeer to compete with them in their alliance. The alliance went undefeated in the playoff matches and went on to win the competition against the second place alliance, comprised of teams from Goodrich, Clarkston and Kearsley high schools.
The Autonomous Award goes to the team that demonstrates consistent, reliable, and high-performance operation during the autonomous period of a match. The RoboCats auto aligning and programmers were able to bring home the award on top of the event win.
The Oxford RoboCats next district qualifying competition will be at Saline High School on March 21-23.
