FEMA dam grant eyed

Goodrich – Last year’s rainfalls could mean dam repair money if a village grant is approved.
The village was notified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that hazardous mitigation funds may become available due to flooding, said Goodrich village administrator Jakki Sidge.
After submitting a letter to FEMA, village officials were notified last week that the village qualified to apply for the funds’if engineering calculations and the grant application could be submitted within four days.
‘We’re hoping to get an extension,? said Sidge.
If awarded, funds would be used to repair the Goodrich Mill Pond stopgates, or create a spillway where excess water could safely flow.
‘We’ve already done quite a bit of work, but there’s still more to be done,? Sidge said.
