JV spikers stay undefeated

Oxford Junior Varsity Volleyball team remains undefeated after the Richmond Invitational last Saturday, Jan. 14.
Going into the semifinal matches 4-0, the team defeated Algonac before defeating Richmond 21-13, and 21-12 in the final match.
‘The girls played amazing,? said Head Coach Dana Millard. ‘This is the best I’ve seen them play so far.?
Left side hitter sophomore Kaitlin Ducharme had 22 kills, 14 aces, 6 digs, and served a total of 37 points. Middle junior Gena Nelson had 15 kills and 6 blocks, freshman middle Karlyn Stroope had 11 kills and 6 blocks.
Back row specialist sophomore Kaitlyn Fisher served 25 points, 14 of which were aces and had 16 digs, and setter sophomore Jen Mancini served 37 points, had 45 assists, and 7 kills.
Overall the team record is 13-2 and 3-0 in the Flint Metro League.
‘One thing about these girls, they are all about team unity,? said Millard. ‘As a coach I couldn’t have hoped for a better team.?
The next home match is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 against Brandon High School.
