Orion Art Center displays student masterpieces

The artwork of 20 students from Lakeville, Leonard, and Daniel Axford elementaries, as well as some from Oxford Middle School, has been chosen to adorn the walls of the Orion Art Center.
‘These students had excellent outcomes with their projects and (are) representative of students in (all three) schools,? said Linda Dzurka, art teacher for Lakeville and Leonard elementaries.
The exhibit began on Jan. 5 and runs through Saturday, February 5. The center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dzurka said the students artwork gained recognition through their exceptional use of a variety of mediums, including oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolors (on paper and fabric), crayon and markers.
The exhibit includes work from Lakeville fourth-graders Madison Line, Cody Smith, Abagail Wrobel, along with fifth-graders Brittney Hilliard, Douglas Klimbal, Lindsay Lewis and Christopher Malkiewicz.
Lakeville kindergartner Mackenzie Eschberger’s work is also on display.
Leonard Elementary was represented by kindergartner Aaron Reeder, first-graders Serafina Tenaglia and Seth Ratkowiak, third-grader Taylor Boes and fourth grader Scott Michalski.
Daniel Axford students Chase Donaldson and Skye Donaldson, both second graders chose marker and paints for their wildlife portraits,
Oxford Middle School was represented by Samantha Pennartz, Matt Peterson, Julie Ardelan, Chris Smalz and Xiomara Rodriguez.
The Orion Art Center is located at 115 S. Anderson St. in downtown Lake Orion.
