Zelenak agrees ‘in principle’ to city manager position

Ortonville? Village Manager Paul Zelenak is involved in contract negotiations to be the Bloomfield Hills city manager.
After discussions more than a week ago, an offer was extended to Zelenak, said Bloomfield Hills Mayor Michael Zambricki.
‘Paul has agreed in principle to come join us pending final details of the contract,? Zambricki said. ‘We’re outlining the benefits and the city’s expectations? his basic administration of all aspects of city functions in our charter. We’re excited about having Paul join us and we would like him to join us as soon as possible.?
An attorney is working out final details of the contract and a starting date for the Bloomfield Hills position would be agreed upon after Zelenak formally accepts, Zambricki continued, adding that Zelenak had made clear he wanted to give reasonable notice to Ortonville.
Zelenak declined comment.
Zelenak was invited to apply for the position in January by Zambricki and had two discussions with officials before a public meeting March 22 in which the position was offered to Huntington Woods city manager Alex Allie. At the same meeting, commission members unanimously voted to make an offer to Zelenak if Allie did not accept. Allie declined the position April 5.
