After 24-hour PS 3 vigil, local plans eBay payday

Auburn Hills- Philip Olney sat in a camping chair at the back of the Meijer’s electronics department all day on Nov. 16, bored, skipping school, getting less than two hours of sleep, all for the opportunity to purchase a Playstation 3 game system at a cost of $600.
All that, and he isn’t keeping it.
‘It’s a nice system, but not worth $600,? says Olney. ‘I wouldn’t pay even $300. I don’t have enough time for video games.?
Instead, the 15-year-old Brandon High School sophomore and part-time Bueche’s Food World worker, who is also busy rehearsing for the school musical, will sell the system on eBay, likely for about $3,000, he says.
‘Talk about doubling your money,? says Olney. ‘I’m taking advantage of others wanting it.?
The young entrepreneur was the first name drawn in a lottery for a chance to purchase the Playstation at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Brown Road Meijer. Only six were available at the store and 28 people entered the lottery. Olney began his wait with the other five at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 16.
He holds a drink in one hand with about seven hours remaining in his quest.
Olney already has plans for the money he will make selling the Playstation on eBay.
The future college business major is going to buy his first car.
