Brandon Twp.- After seven years as the township’s substation commander, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim McIsaac has been reassigned.
McIsaac, 48, will be the day shift traffic sergeant out of Pontiac. His last day as substation commander is Dec. 15.
‘I’ve been here seven years, no one else has been here more than five,? said McIsaac, speaking of previous commanders. ‘It’s been a great run.?
McIsaac explained that part of being a member of a large department means you go when they tell you to.
‘They asked if I was interested (in the traffic sergeant position), and I said yes,? he said. ‘I have a number of years left before retirement and I want to move up. In order to do so, I need more experience and to become more rounded.?
McIsaac has been with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for the past 19 years and plans to continue working for at least another 10. He arrived in the township as commander in the fall of 1999.
In his time here, McIsaac says he has seen an increase in heroin use, but adds that is happening everywhere. He has also seen an increase in accidents, but expects that is because of the township’s growth.
‘There has been a slow increase in crime, and it goes up and down with the economy,? he said, noting that the increase in population has also contributed, but because of the ordinance requiring 2.5 acres on which to build, growth has been slower than other areas.
McIsaac says he will miss the township’s landscape, which he calls one of the most beautiful in the county, and, he will miss the people.
‘I’ve made a lot of friends and acquaintances here,? he said.
McIsaac is trading places with Sgt. Michael Searing, the former traffic sergeant in Pontiac, who will arrive Dec. 18.
But township residents may yet encounter McIsaac.
‘They could see me on my motorcycle next summer,? he said, smiling.
