STARS program:’It doesn’t seem like schoolwork?

Brandon Twp.- Wanted: Caring adult or teenaged volunteers to work with children in grades K-4 one-on-one, helping with homework and reading skills one or two hours a week.
The STARS program, which began last month, is popular, has reached full enrollment capacity and now has a waiting list, but volunteers are needed to assist the 20 children in the program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. The program may increase to five days a weeks if enough volunteers sign up.
‘The children are enjoying it,? says Brandon Groveland Youth Assistance Caseworker Phyllis McCaffrey. ‘They like participating in fun learning activities. It doesn’t seem like schoolwork, they’re having a good time learning. It’s very rewarding. The volunteers get as much out of it as the children.?
