Blackhawk gridders stay perfect early in season

The Brandon Blackhawks varsity football team improved to a perfect 2-0 record with a win on the road over the Clio High School Mustangs on Sept. 5.
Dan Grost, sophomore running back for Brandon, scored on a 32-yard touchdown run and the extra point was kicked by Steve Cybulski, senior, in the third quarter of the game to give Brandon the lead 7-3 over Clio, who scored a field goal in the second quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Ian Peck, senior defensive lineman, intercepted the ball and ran it in for a touchdown.
The final score was 13-3.
‘The defense did a nice job and played a good game,? said Blackhawks Varsity Coach Tim Pizzala.
‘We are still working on things as a team. We’re fairly young as a group, but we’re excited for the season. I have high expectations.?
Pizzala said the team’s goal is to improve every year, learn the game and get better at what they do.
The Blackhawks ended the 2007 football season with a record of 5-4.
