Ortonville- In tough economic times, animals also suffer.
While the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund uses cash donations to feed people, they will accept donations of dog and cat food to help owners feed their pets.
OCEF Food Pantry Director Judy Henley said a concerned resident in the community has donated both dog and cat food and asked if OCEF could place a collection bin at Pet Supplies ‘Plus,? 22 N. Ortonville Road. The bin is now there for anyone wishing to make a donation of pet food and other supplies, and donations are also accepted at St. Anne Church, 825 S. Ortonville Road.
Henley said the donated dog and cat food was taken quickly by families in need who visit the food pantry monthly.
‘One gal was so grateful,? said Henley. ‘She told me she was out of pet food and didn’t know what to do. They were giving their dog table scraps… We all know, pets are part of families and you want to provide for them as you do your children and those you love.? Details: 248-627-3965.
