Clarkston State Bank reaches out to medical community

With the widespread growth of the Clarkston area’s medical community, Clarkston State Bank offers services tailored for medical offices.
‘One of the things that we found out over the years is that physicians have a hard time taking any time out of their schedule to come into a bank,? said Dawn Horner, executive vice president. ‘Our philosophy is we’re going to come to you. We’ll come to your office, we’ll meet with you.?
The idea for medical banking came about over the past three years. The bank plans to build a branch off Sashabaw Road on the McLaren Campus, Horner said.
Medical banking services includes Med-Deposit, Med Finance, and knowledge seminars.
‘Med-Deposit is everything from your general operating checking account to merchant services and fraud protection,” said Don Bolton, senior vice president.
Med-finance services everything from a revenue line of credit to leasing, and Med Knowledge seminars will focus on practice administrators and office managers, Bolton said.
“We will do either ‘lunch and learns? or bring in professionals out there that will be able to provide ‘here’s what’s going on, here’s how you can save time, and here is what is going on in your world,?? he said.
‘We will also have professionals that come in to talk about here is the new healthcare plan that’s just been signed into law from the senate and congress of the United States for the physicians.?
With the help of Intellitrends marketing company, CSB was able to do a focus group with office managers to find out exactly what the needs of different medical office workers were, Horner said.
‘What we didn’t want to do is develop a suite of projects that we thought they needed,? she said. ‘We wanted to hear from them what they needed.?
The personal touch sets the bank apart, said Bolton.
“We’re available, we’re knowledgeable, and we’re solution focused,” he said. “We know that the health and profitability of our customers is what the future of this community is and hopefully we’re not a non-profit, but we’ll make some money too,? he said. The decisions are made in Clarkston or Waterford, not made in North Carolina, Columbus, Chicago, or Texas. We’re apart of this community.?
