Ready for some spooky fun?

New events in this year’s Lake Orion Halloween Parade might give participants something to scream about.
The parade, rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 from the previously publicized Oct. 28 date, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Angel Center on the corner of Elizabeth and Lapeer streets.
Some 20-30 minutes later, the end of the procession will wind into Children’s Park.
In addition to ‘Best Adult Costume Contest,? activities at the park will also include a ‘Best Adult Scream? competition.
But not just any scream’competitors must strike a pose, as well.
‘We have these ‘Horrified B-movie Victim figurines,? said Denise Demak, special events coordinator with the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority. ‘We’ll hand (each contestant) a different figurine and they’ll get into that pose and scream.?
Coffee and hot cocoa will be available at Poppyseed Deli on Flint Street, Demak said, and Children’s Park will be decorated with lights and inflatable displays.
In addition, the Lake Orion High School String Orchestra will be on hand’weather permitting’to provide spooky music, and costumed volunteers will hand out adult ‘goodie bags?’samples and other items from downtown merchants’and pass candy to children. Trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses will follow.
The DDA sponsors the annual event; call Denise Demak at 248-693-9742 or 248-425-2003 for information.
