The former Oxford High School assistant dive coach who sent sexually explicit text messages to two 15-year-old female divers and sexually propositioned them will learn his fate Nov. 12 in Oakland County Circuit Court before Judge Mark Goldsmith.
On Oct. 22, Brandon Joseph Figurski, 20, of Lake Orion, pleaded guilty to all three of the felony charges against him.
Figurski, who only worked as a volunteer coach at OHS for two weeks prior to his arrest, was charged with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and communicating with another to commit a crime.
The first two charges carry maximum sentences 20 years. The last charge is a 15-year felony.
A 2007 Lake Orion High School graduate and state champion diver, Figurski sent text messages containing sexual comments to the girls, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
After a detective from the sheriff’s Computer Crimes Unit took over use of the girls? cell phones and assumed their identities, Figurski sent messages requesting the girls send him sexually explicit pictures of themselves. He then suggested he and the two minors engage in various sexual acts.
Following his Aug. 31 arrest, Oxford Community Schools immediately terminated its relationship with Figurski.
