Brandon Twp.- Police are following leads in a recent armed robbery in the Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park.
According to police reports, Brandon deputies responded at about 11:01 p.m., Nov. 24 to the 4400 block of Hemlock Loop after a woman said she was robbed at gunpoint as she was getting out of her car.
The complainant said she arrived at her friend’s house and parked her car in the driveway of a vacant trailer southeast of her friend’s address. After she was parked, she looked down at her phone for about one minute, checking for messages, then gathered her purse and keys.
As she opened the door, a man came out from behind the car parked next to hers and said, ‘Don’t move.? She then saw an automatic gun, dark in color, with a long barrel, in his hand. The suspect pointed it at the woman’s face and instructed her to give up her phone. She gave him her phone as the suspect kept the gun pointed at her face. He then put the phone in his pocket and gestured with his gun to her purse. She pulled out her wallet and gave him approximately $90 in assorted bills. The suspect pocketed the money and then pointed the gun even closer to her head and said, ‘Give me your keys.?
She gave up the keys and the man then told her to give him her purse, telling her he was going to ‘put it over there, since you’ve been good,? gesturing outside of the vehicle. The suspect then told her to put her legs back in the car and he shut the door.
The woman did not see in which direction he went, but heard loud footsteps, like he was running. She got out and found her purse and screamed for help. Her friends came out and an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was called. The track ended in an area on Spruce Court. On the track, the woman’s keys were located.
When the woman’s stolen cell phone was called, a man answered and said he had just bought the phone from a guy at his friend’s house for $10. That man is not considered a suspect, but was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after it was discovered he had a 6-inch knife up his sleeve.
The suspect in the armed robbery is described as being a white male, about 17-20 years-old, about 5?3? to 5?5?, wearing an oversized baseball cap and unzipped oversized hoodie sweatshirt with a white T-shirt underneath. Anyone with information is asked to call Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Detective Dale Brown at the Brandon substation at 248-627-4911.
