Are you feeling strong?

Looking for a way to give your muscles the workout of a lifetime and show support for America’s fallen heroes?
Gordy Dibler’s got just the thing.
The Oxford resident is currently recruiting 20-member teams for a good old-fashioned truck pull on Saturday, May 15 at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg.
The challenge ? using nothing but thick rope and pure muscle, see how far each team can pull a fully-loaded gravel hauler, donated by TKMS Ltd. in Oxford. Its estimated weight is 160,000 pounds (or 80 tons!)
The registration fee for each team is $500 or $25 per person.
All proceeds will go toward ‘Our Burdens Rest,? a memorial for Michigan’s fallen soldiers to be built in Kalkaska, Michigan.
Dibler is the stepfather of U.S. Army Spc. Byron Fouty, a former Oxford resident captured and killed in the Iraq war.
To honor his stepson’s memory, Dibler is now the president of The Fouty Foundation, which is dedicated to honoring fallen soldiers with memorials and supporting active military personnel.
The truck pull will be part of the Second Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration at the county park. This family-oriented event will feature military displays, live music, kids? games, food, crafts and special guests.
To register for the truck pull, please call Dibler at (248) 310-5689. For more information about the pull or the ‘Our Burdens Rest? memorial, visit www.foutyfoundation.com.
