Brandon Twp.- Police and school officials are urging parents to talk with their children about what they should do if approached by a stranger after two recent suspicious incidents.
A letter from the Brandon School District that was dated March 28 and given to students to take home, stated, ‘A parent called on March 25 to make us aware of an incident that recently occurred at the first bus stop in Sashabaw Meadows (Mobile Home Park) at Dogwood/Birch. Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has already taken a report.
An 8th grader was stopped while walking by two ‘older? men in a tan van with black striping. One man, wearing an orange cap, showed a fake police badge and told her son to get in the car. Her son took off running. The same thing happened to another student age 13 earlier last week.
If anyone sights the van described above, please try to get a description of the man and write down the license plate number. You are asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department at once. Thank you for your assistance.?
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Pete Burkett confirmed the information and said a report was taken on March 23, although details are sketchy because the incident involving the complainant’s son took place a few days prior and the incident with the other boy happened the week before.
Extra patrols have been added to the mobile home park and Burkett advises parents to remind their children that they are never to get in a vehicle with a stranger? to keep their distance and run to the nearest home or to someone they know.
