Ortonville- The village has received a windfall of sorts.
Village Manager John Lyons was recently notified by Oakland County that the village has accrued $54,883 in Tri-Party funds.
The Tri-Party Road Improvement program was established in the 1970s to assist cities, townships and villages in Oakland County with funding of projects on county roads.
‘I didn’t know about it and the village hasn’t used it in a few years,? said Lyons. ‘We get about $3,000 per year and this $54,883 has been building up over the years.?
County officials may be ending the program and want communities to use the funds that have been accumulated within the next two years. The village is allowed to use the funds for work on the only two county roads in the village limits? Granger and Oakwood.
Lyons plans to look over the two roads and see what work can be done. While it is not enough money to do a resurfacing project, it is possible that ditches may be cleared to help with storm drainage, the corner aprons on the roads could be widened., or spot repairs could be done.
