Clarkston man injured in M-15 crash

A 23-year-old Clarkston man is expected to make a full recovery from serious injuries he sustained in a head-on crash on M-15 Monday.

According to police reports, the crash occurred on Ortonville Road south of Oak Hill Road in Independence Township around 7:16 a.m., March 19 when the 23-year-old, who was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 northbound on Ortonville Road, went left of center and struck a southbound 2007 GMC Savana driven by a 35-year-old Goodrich resident.

The driver of the GMC was treated at the scene and sought medical attention on his own.

The Mazda driver, a substitute teacher in the Brandon School District, had to be extricated by firefighters from Independence and Brandon townships. He was then transported to Genesys Regional Medical Center.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
