Two candidates for Brandon trustee appointment

Brandon Twp.- The school board has two candidates to choose from for an open trustee seat.
Debbie Brady, a former school board member, and Shelly Oles, a newcomer, have applied for appointment to the school board seat after Trustee Le Anne Schmidt resigned last month.
The personnel committee will review the two candidates? applications at a Feb. 10 meeting and make a recommendation to the full board during a special meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Feb. 12, at central district office, 1025 S. Ortonville Road. The board will vote to appoint a candidate at this meeting, and will then convene a closed session with the new trustee to review applications for the superintendent position. Current Superintendent Lorrie McMahon is stepping down at the end of June.
Brady served on the school board from 2009-2012, including positions as board vice-president and secretary. She is currently employed with Fisher & Company of Fenton, on the autotech team. On her resume, listed areas of expertise include business, classroom, and e-learning development.
Oles earned her doctorate in nursing from Oakland University in 2013 and is currently employed as a primary care nurse practitioner at McLaren Medical Group in Drayton. She is a 1997 Brandon High School graduate and the mother of two children currently attending Brandon schools. Among her listed skills are a high level of technology proficiency, as well as knowledge of budget management and grant proposals.
