As a way to bring both business and families together the Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its First Annual Oxford Chamber Challenge 5K Walk/ 10K Run on Sunday, May 18.
‘In the past we’ve done fashion shows and things of that nature that brings a lot of the ladies out, but we want men, women and children,? said Chamber Member Jennifer Graves. ‘So we’re trying to do a new event, which would bring everyone together to help support businesses and the community.?
Walkers and runners may register at www.active.com. Pre-registration is $25 or $35 the day of. The entry fee includes registration, T-Shirt, bottled water throughout and metal awards. There is also 10X10 table space available for vendors at $75 for Chamber members and $100 non-members, as well as sponsorships ranging anywhere from $150 Bronze to $1,500 Platinum.
‘The money that’s raised will go back into the community for future events and Concerts in the Park,? Graves said. ?(We’re) putting money back into the community so we can have more events for families to get together to really know what our new businesses are in town because they’re changing so much lately. We want people to come down into the community and be more involved.?
