Are you stocked up with extra food staples? The Clarkston High School Football Program is looking for you as they collect food for the 17th Annual Rush for Food on Friday, Aug. 22.
The Freshman, JV and Varsity Clarkston Gridiron heroes will collect non-perishable food in local neighborhoods and spend an evening stocking the pantry at the Lighthouse Emergency Services in Independence Township as they build awareness of community need, promote team unity, and allow players to give back to the community that supports them.
The players encourage the community to get involved and ways:
Drop off donations at The Clarkston News, 5 South Main Street, from now until August 21. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday;
Drop off donations directly to the Lighthouse, located at 6330 Sashabaw Rd, during their business hours or from 6:30-7:30pm on August 22 labeled with Rush for Food/Clarkston Football;
Leave donations in a labeled paper bag on your front porch for football players to pick up on Friday, Aug. 22 from 6-7pm.
While they can’t cover all neighborhoods, the team will be driving through the following areas looking for donations:
Almond Lane, Autumn Shores, Birdland Streets, Boyne Highlands, Bridge Lake Bluffs, Bridge Valley, Brookstone, Chestnut Hills, Clarkston Farms, Clarkston Ridge, Deer Valley, Deerwood & The Manors, Dixie Lake Estates, HarborTowne, Hills of Kingston, Holcomb Rd, Ingomar Farms, Lake Waldon Village (including Waldon Pond Condos), The Links Condos, Middle Lake, Miller Rd. Oakhurst, Old Cove Rd, Old Pond, Peaceful Valley, Pebblecreek, Pheasant Run Rd, Pine Lake Forest, Pine Valley, Sashabaw Meadows, Sheringham, Softwater Woods, Spring Lake, Stonegate, Timber Ridge, Townsend Estates, The Village of Clarkston (including Buffalo, Church, and Washington), Waldon Creek, Waldon Woods, Wood Creek Trail, and Wyngate.
