Relief trip planned

North Oakland Disaster Relief Team are staying close to home with their latest project, helping Detroit area homes recover from severe flood damage.
The trip to Warren, Oct. 18-26, will include cleaning out 30-50 basements, and repair work in 3-4 homes.
Volunteers of all skill levels can help out 1-2 days or all week, said Ben Pusheck, NODRT board member and organizer.
“We’ll do a little bit of everything. If volunteers have more skills, we’ll put them to work ? electrical, plumbing, replace floors, drywall, whatever we can do,” Pusheck said.
The team will car pool to work sites, and housing and food will be provided.
“You can help even if you don’t have any money. There’s no reason not to help,” he said.
Warren was one of the areas hardest hit by flooding during the August storm, damaging more than 22,000 homes and buildings.
NODRT, a Clarkston-area, church-based non-profit group, has sent volunteers to disaster areas around the country, including the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Joplin, Missouri, after a tornado in 2011.
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old. For more information, call 248-303-4501 or email benpusheck@aol.com.
