Students smooshed cream pies in the faces of Daniel Axford (DA) Elementary staff members last week as a reward for their successful fund-raising efforts.
According to DA Principal Chad Boyd, approximately $25,000 was raised by this year’s fund run, which is the PTO’s largest fund-raiser for both DA and Oxford Elementary.
‘The DA/OES PTO does amazing things for our students here in Oxford,? Boyd said. ‘We would like to thank our DA/OES families for their support.?
The PTO uses the money in various ways such as providing teachers with money for classroom supplies, school assemblies, funds for technology upgrades, IB-related activities, kindergarten t-shirts, fifth-grade t-shirts, field day inflatables, staff appreciation lunch and meals.
‘Lastly, the money helps us fund the following great activities throughout the year ? Pop in for Popsicles, Family Tailgate, Spooky Math Night, Santa Breakfast and Workshop, Bingo Night, OES Game Night and the Spring Fair,? noted Boyd.
In support of the fund-run fund-raising efforts, DA held its annual ‘Pie in the Face Assembly,? where students get a chance to throw cream pies into their teachers? face.
Kelly Dorman’s third grade class at OES had the highest participation with 100 percent at both schools and raised the most money $1,602. ‘Congrats to her class,? Boyd said.
The highest class money raiser for DA was Murdoch’s second grade class with $1,519. The highest individual student fund-raiser out of both schools was Carter Quehl, who raised $401.
‘There were also 47 students who contributed $130 who got to participate in the Pie in the Face Assembly,? noted Boyd.
Seventeen were from DA while 30 were from OES). The 17 DA students, including Quehl, were Eden B ecker, Jillian Boyd, Trey George, Emerson Miller, Reese Miller, Ethan Wardrop, Nolan Mauser, Michael Rustoni, Christian Ferguson, Jackson Lunquist, Cole Jacob, Dylan Warren, Jesse Lemon, Chloe Freiburger, Teagan Spurlock and Quinton Rohlfing. The teachers that were on the receiving end of the whip cream pies were Shawn Regan, Jarred Frantz, Jamie Murdoch, Jennifer Kontry, Nicole Dereski, Leslie Klingensmith, Katie Francis, Danielle Collins, Jessica Bull, Michelle Kussner and of course Principal Chad Boyd.
