The first collegiate signing in Oxford High School Lacrosse history belongs to senior attack Noah Grove, who inked a letter of intent on Nov. 20 to continue his education and athletic career at the University of Indianapolis
‘I am super excited to get down there and start playing,? Grove said.
His parents Nathan and Courtney Grove are ‘extremely proud? of their son as well.
‘This is something he’s wanted since he was in middle school,? Nathan said. ‘He’s dedicated himself to do it and we’re just proud he was able to accomplish his goal.?
Grove, the second leading scorer in Oxford High School men’s history, with 178 points, will enroll next fall and play for recently hired Coach Greg Stocks, who said he was grateful to land a player of Grove’s ability.
‘We’re just building our program from scratch and to land a player of Noah’s ability, coupled with his educational success, we’re happy here at the University of Indianapolis,? Stock said. ‘He will be a vital part of the program from the moment he arrives on campus.?
Groves said he picked the U of I for the school academics and fledging varsity lacrosse program.
‘I think I made a great choice for college,? he said. ‘The professors, they’re going to help me out and get through what I need to get through and get me to where I want to be after I graduate and when I’m done playing lacrosse.?
His plan is to be a history teacher and eventually become an athletic director.
Oxford Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Greg Normand said he couldn’t be happier to see Grove ‘land in the Hoosier state.?
‘I’ve coached a lot of kids, but few have worked as hard as Noah,? Normand added. ‘We’re really proud of him and can’t wait for the 2015 spring season to get underway.?
On a side note, Grove will join Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard Senior Matt Johnson at Indianapolis, after he inked his letter of intent the day prior to Grove signing. Johnson and Grove play on a summer travel team together.
