Brandon Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame

Brandon Twp.- Just a few weeks ago, the district sent another class of graduates out into the world, but Superintendent Matt Outlaw plans to establish a new Class of 2015 this fall, consisting of alumni with impressive accomplishments.
Nominations are now being accepted for the inaugural class of the Brandon Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame. Nominees must have graduated from Brandon High School at least 10 years ago and have distinguished themselves in the years since leaving the district, whether that be through career achievement, civic involvement, volunteerism, philanthropy, service to our nation, contributions to the Brandon-Ortonville community, or outstanding leadership.
‘To me, any successful school system is built on the backs of those who came before us,? said Outlaw. ‘When you have a strong alumni network, it creates role models for the kids and a connection between the community and schools, a link between current and past students. Alumni is something we want to highlight and it will also be fun for the community to look to its past and learn about the great things students are doing once they leave Brandon Schools.?
Outlaw approached the Donaldson family with his idea of establishing an alumni wall of fame. Ed and Diane Donaldson were long-time employees and supporters of the Brandon School District and the family wanted to make a financial contribution. ‘They (the family) liked the idea of the wall of fame and they are making a contribution to create a display,? said Outlaw. ‘The display will include plaques with names and pictures of distinguished alumni.?
The wall of fame will be located at the west entrance to the high school, between the aquatics center and central office. The program is districtwide and Outlaw expects to have additions to the wall annually.
Deadline for nominations this year is Sept. 1. Forms are available to print from http://
