Check your credit card statement

Ortonville- If you have used a credit card to buy gas or anything else at the Citgo station in town in September, check your financial statement.
A former employee of the station is being investigated for fraud.
‘If any township resident discovers purchases on their credit card they did not authorize, contact me or Detective Pung at the substation,? said Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Greg Glover, Brandon substation commander. ‘We think other victims may not be aware she used their card.?
According to police reports, on Sept. 29, Brandon deputies responded to the Citgo station, 495 South St., after managers of the station received a complaint from a customer that she had found charges on her credit card statement that she did not make. The customer had used her card at the station for a $6.19 purchase at 6:34 p.m., Sept. 24. A review of surveillance video shows the suspect employee writing down the credit card number and then about an hour later, the suspect manually entered the card number for $100 and removed cash from the register drawer. The following day, the suspect repeated her actions, once for $75, and again for $100, for a total of $275 in fraudulent transactions using the one credit card number.
The manager confronted the employee regarding the matter and relieved her of her duties. He told police the suspect stood there and then said, ‘OK,? and turned around and walked away.
‘You may have used your card at Citgo, but purchases may show up for something you didn’t buy,? said Glover. ‘Let us know.?
Glover and Pung can be reached at the substation, 248-627-4911.
