Oxford swimmers keeps undefeated win streak alive

The boys? swim team keeps impressing this season, as they had an impressive 114-72 win over North Farmington, bringing their record to 3-0 in the league and 4-0 overall.
‘The win last night will make for an exciting league meet between Oxford, North Farmington and Troy Athens,? said Head Coach Jackie Rank.
According to Rank there were 45 individual swims for the swimmers at the meet and all but seven were season best times.
‘They have grown so much over the first half of the season and we plan on keeping the ball rolling,? she added. ‘We have areas where we can improve and grow, but the boys are excited to be undefeated.?
200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Sereno, Grove, Warren, and Powers placed first’with a time of 1:50.33. Oxford’s B Relay of Scepka, Acton, Tasch and Sabo finished third. 200 Freestyle: Senior Armando Vega took second’with a time of 1:58.21. Travis Butler and Trenton Sabo finished third’and fourth’respectively. Travis’s time puts him 10’on the All-Time Top Ten List. In the 200 Individual Medley: Sophomore Garrett Warren came in first’with a time of 2:10.83, which puts him fourth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Jonah Grove and Bradlee Weltyk finished second’and fourth’respectively.
50 Freestyle: Senior Sean Terry took first’with a time of 22.50, which qualifies him for the Oakland County Championships on February sixth’and is just 0.01 off the D1 State Cut. Zack Acton and Michael Scepka rounded out the top three spots. Diving: Sophomore Mitchell Mulligan placed second’with a score of 158.25. Josh Burr came in 5th’for Oxford, which puts him eight’on the All-Time Top Ten List.
?100 Butterfly: Armando Vega finished second’with a time of 1:00.30. Trenton Sabo and Lucas Sereno finished fourth’and fifth’respectively. Lucas’s time puts him seventh’on the All-Time Top Ten List and Lucas’s time puts him 10th.
100 Freestyle: Sean Terry had his second individual win of the night with a time of 49.98, which qualifies him for the Oakland County Championships on February 6. Brandon Powers and Mario Scribner finished second’and fifth’respectively. 500 Freestyle: Garrett Warren celebrated his second individual win of the night with a time of 5:25.27, which puts him fourth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. Zack Acton and Travis Butler finished fourth’and fifth’respectively. Zack’s time moves him up to ninth’on the All-Time Top Ten List.
200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Terry, Weltyk, Vega, and Butler finished first with a time of 1:37.01. Oxford’s B Relay of Scepka, Saxon, Grove, and Scribner took third’place for Oxford. 100 Backstroke: In a very close finish, sophomore Lucas Sereno came in second’with a time of 1:05.82, just 0.18 behind the first’place finisher from North Farmington. Brandon Powers and Jake Tasch placed third’and fourth’place respectively. Brandon’s time moves him up to eighth’on the All-Time Top Ten List. 100 Breaststroke: Sophomore Michael Scepka took second’with a time of 1:08.57, which moves him up to third’on the All-Time Top Ten List. 400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Terry, Warren, Powers, and Vega finished first with a time of 3:40.46. Oxford’s B Relay of Acton, Butler, Sereno, and Sabo placed third’for Oxford.
On Thursday, the boys will travel to Southfield-Lathrup for their next Blue Division dual meet. Thursday, Jan. 28’will be senior night against Ferndale.
After that Rank said they will have the Oakland County Championships on Feb. 5th?(diving) and 6th?(swimming) at Lake Orion High School.
‘Sean Terry has automatically qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Four other athletes have made the consideration cut, which means that they may compete at the OCC if they are one of the top 40 times/scores in the County,? Rank said. ‘Those athletes are Armando Vega (200 Freestyle), Garrett Warren (200 IM and 500 Free), Mitchell Mulligan (Diving), and Michael Scepka (100 Breaststroke).?
