Lady cats lose two on hardwood

‘Both Clarkston and Lathrup were excellent ball clubs,? according to varsity Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Emert.
The Lady Cats took a couple hard losses this week on the hardwood.
On Tuesday, the girls fell to Clarkston 40-21.
‘In the Clarkston we came out of the gate very slowly and we’re down 12 at end of quarter, in the next three quarters we settled down and we’re outscored 21-14,? explained Emert. ‘We never quit and played extremely hard.?
Oxford was led by Monae Evans with 7 points and 12 rebounds. Maddy Morris and Jordyn Zyngier each contributed 4 points. Clarkston was led by Kayla Luchenbach with 11 and Kayla Russel with 10.
On Friday night the girls lost to Southfield Lathrup 56-17.
‘Lathrup probably is one of the most talented teams that I have seen play in an awful long time,? Emert said. ‘They were big, quick and could shoot the ball. ‘I am extremely proud that our team played with heart, discipline and pride for 32 minutes against such a formidable foe.?
On Friday Oxford hosts Rochester Adams at home. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
‘Adams will be another test for us,? Emert added. ‘But we look at and understand that this game is just like any other night in the red division of the OAA.?
