A 15-year-old Oxford boy was injured at a field party in Metamora that occurred Saturday, June 10, according to Metamora Township police.
Metamora Township police and EMS crews were sent to a 433-acre property on M-24, north of Pratt Road, at 1:10 a.m. after the teen had passed out and was run over by a car when someone went to leave.
Police indicated there was a possible leg or hip injury and there were tire tracks on his waist.
The teen was transported to McLaren Lapeer Region hospital.
According to Susan Perry-Nolte, a spokesperson for McLaren Lapeer Region, the boy was admitted early last Sunday, was held overnight for observation and was released the next morning.
Metamora Township Police Chief Dave Mallet described the incident as a “kegger that got out of hand.”
There were reported to have been between 200 to 300 people at the event.
The event, billed as the “Magic Thumb Camp Out Fest!,” first appeared on Facebook on a private page the week before. The page has since been taken down.
According to Mallet, the owners of the property, the site of Predmore Land and Cattle Co., were not involved in the organization of the event and had not had any knowledge of the weekend activity.
He said an investigation into the party is currently underway.
