Last week, the Oxford Township Board voted unanimously to promote Firefighter Benjamin “B.J.” Stapp (pictured left) from sergeant to shift captain. Stapp has been a full-time member of the department since November 2006. Prior to that, he spent about two years as a paid-on-call firefighter for Independence Township. “It’s an honor to be able to serve the community,” he said. “I enjoy helping people and I didn’t want a desk job.
