Ortonville man trial date rescheduled for Sept. 29

Ortonville – Ortonville resident Randy Ray Cooper remains free on a $100,000 personal bond.
In a second postponement from the 71st A District Court, in Lapeer, Cooper remains free on the bond, that was issued after he was accused of criminal sexual conduct charges.
Cooper is facing a possible sentence of 15 years for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a child, on May 7, according to a Lapeer County Prosecuting attorney.
Cooper is free on bond until his preliminary exam, which is now scheduled for Sept. 29, when he will face Lapeer County Judge John Connolly for a preliminary exam on the SCS charges.
According to the prosecutors office, the child reported that the offense allegedly took place while Cooper was driving her home from her brother’s baseball game.
