Volleyball
OHS girls varsity volleyball team competed in a tournament Saturday, Sept. 24 at Novi High School.
The girls went 3-0 in pool play, defeating Walled Lake Western in two games (2-0) and Farmington and Grosse Pointe North in three games each (2-1, 2-1).
In the playoffs, the Cats went on to defeat Lakeland in two games (2-0), but then fell to Novi in the semi-finals, losing two games, 25-20 and 25-18.
Oxford swept West Bloomfield High School in three games on Thursday, Sept. 22. The Wildcats won 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14.
It was the first league win for Oxford.
Top-scorers were Kayla Manzella with 17 assists and 3 kills; Maddy Weiss with 14 assists and 2 kills; Paige Briggs with 16 kills; Nicole Elzerman with 10 kills; and Paige Parent with 10 digs and 5 aces.
Soccer
Oxford’s boys varsity soccer team ended its Sept. 23 home game against Almont in a 2-2 tie.
Goals were scored by senior Capt. Nick Wright and freshman Nick Morawski.
Prior to that, Oxford fell to Clarkston 4-1 in a Sept. 22 away game.
Wright scored the only goal of the game after being fed the ball on a great combination play by senior Jack Kitchner and junior Mitchel Morawski.
Oxford’s overall record is 5-7-2. The team is 1-3-1 in OAA White play.
Tennis
Oxford’s boys varsity tennis team beat Flint Kearsley High School 5-3 on Sept. 22.
The Wildcats swept the singles matches with wins from Connor Romine, Hayden Durant, Trevor Wallace and Brock Heilig.
Oxford’s doubles team of Drew Galley and Jonathan Robb secured the deciding victory.
Prior to that, Oxford lost to Berkley High School 6-2 on Sept. 21. Romine and Wallace scored singles victories.
