ADDISON TWP. – A house fire in the Hidden Lake Estates manufactured home park Monday evening has raised some questions, given it was burning in three separate areas.
“It’s under investigation,” said Fire Chief Jerry Morawski.
Firefighters were called to the single-wide manufactured home on Miller Cove.
The owner arrived home, discovered the fire and called 9-1-1 at 5:38 p.m. She was able to rescue her dog, but unfortunately, her cat was killed, according to Morawski.
Extinguishing the flames wasn’t a problem. It was declared under control at 6:09 p.m.
“We put it out pretty quick,” Morawski said. “From the outside, you wouldn’t even know the trailer had been on fire . . . You can see the windows we busted to vent it, but that’s it.”
What puzzled Morawski was the fact the fire was burning independently “in three different areas of the trailer.”
Fire was discovered in the bedroom closet, on the bedroom floor and by an electrical outlet in the kitchen area, according to the chief.
“They’re not connected at all,” he said. “It’s something I can’t figure out.”
Given the unusual circumstances, Morawski contacted the Oakland County Sheriff’s Fire Investigations Unit to look into things.
“It just kind of concerns me,” he said.
